Vancello Music
Cellist Steve VanRavenswaay has been a
member of the
Grand Rapids Symphony
in Michigan for nearly
30 years! He joined the orchestra as a part time player while
still in High School in Holland, Michigan
and after attending the Peabody Conservatory of Music in
Baltimore, Maryland where he studied
with the late Stephen Kate's, he rejoined the orchestra as a
full time member.
Since signing on
with the orchestra Mr. VanRavenswaay's career has taken many
interesting turns, including
a number of recordings with various new age artists and numerous
commercials. More recently he has
performed with such artists as The Irish Tenors, LeAnn Rimes,
Natalie Cole, Linda Ronstadt, John Tesh,
Josh Groban, Yes, The Moody Blues and the Christmas rock/heavy
metal extravaganza Trans-Siberian
Orchestra ,
which is fast becoming one of the most popular Christmas shows
touring the USA!
Steven VanRavenswaay
has just completed recording his first solo CD entitled
" Cello
Songs & Stories ", a
collection of original music for cello and piano. The music is in
a light classical/new age/jazz style,
relaxing yet intellectually and emotionally challenging.
Steve's acoustic
cello was made in 1755 by Leopold Widhalm of Nurnberg. More
information about this
fine instrument is available on this page. He hopes to soon be
the proud owner of a 6 string monster of
an electric instrument made by Wood Violins. The
"Viper" cello will have a high E string and a low F
string.
Possibly in a metallic black or red wash over burled maple with
gold fittings. The possibilities are truly frightening!
Mr. VanRavenswaay is
available for weddings and receptions either as a solo cellist
with prerecorded back-ups
or in ensemble with various additional musicians to suit your
musical needs. More information is available here.
